As you know, I happily field questions and answer as many as I can. There’s even a comprehensive list of All of the Questions That Have Ever Been Asked and Answered. My favorite is when I open your emails and go, “Oooh, good question!” That’s exactly what happened when I read this one.
Q | I believe that someone from my past is paying someone to put love spells on me. (I realize just how crazy that sounds.) I know that I do not want this person in my life. I never doubted my decisions to walk away and block this person from my life years ago but over the past few months or so every now and again I get intense thoughts about this person and I know they aren’t mine.
It’s wild and very creepy that you can pay someone to do this. I do my best to just shut these thoughts down and think about something else but I guess my question is, can you stop something like this? And what do these people even do for this to happen?
A | First and foremost, this does not sound crazy in the slightest. There are all sorts of attachments and psychic attacks pinging about and, at times, finding their way to us. In some ways, it’s no different than an angry motorist hurling a swear word at us from a moving vehicle. Hearing, “Ya dumb bitch,” yelled at you as you mind your business in a crosswalk hits differently than if a close friend or romantic partner utters the same phrase.
Two factors play into how easily something can attach — the closeness of a relationship and the capabilities of the psychic abilities at play.
Additionally, if we’re rundown and exhausted, that makes for an easier target. This isn’t always avoidable because life happens, but if we can be aware of when we’re a bit more susceptible, we can adjust our gauge of our surroundings appropriately. It’s the psychic equivalent of the “Do Not Operate Heavy Machinery” warning.
Now, what do you do when something does find its way to you and sticks. Bleh. You actually articulated the first step in your question. High five!! Identify that the energy and attachment does not belong to you. How awesome that you know yourself and your energy well enough to distinguish and discern what is yours and what isn’t. More high fives all around!!
While it would be amazing to move through life without having someone spit on your shoe or accidentally step in poo, that’s not always in the cards. So don’t beat yourself up if an attachment finds its way to you. Particularly if someone is being paid to hurl it your way, these things happen. In no way is it an indicator that you’re weak or that you’ve done something wrong. The voices in your head will do their damndest to try to convince you of those “truths” and much more. Don’t listen.
If people with ill intentions are going to do something surly (to put it mildly), they’ll find a way. Look at all of the horrible and cruel things that people do to each other in the seen world. Why wouldn’t that extend to the unseen and psychic planes? Kind of a downer of a thought, I know. That said, it helps me when the repeat of, “How did I let this happen!?!” worms its way into my head. I didn’t. Those who wish you harm will go to lengths that you or I would never dream of taking.
Once you’ve identified that there’s an attachment, time to remove it!!
There’s no one size fits all solution for this predicament. Womp. Womp. If only it were that simple.
Sometimes there are energetic chords that need to be popped off. Other times there’s a giant, tangled root system that needs to be extracted. I’ve seen looming heads spying on people that required stern words and unwavering confidence to cast them out. Dark little blobs can lurk under the skin that get popped out like alien pimples. Remember, it’s not always humans doing the work (though it is in the case of this love spell). The combinations are endless.
Good news! My favorite approaches will work in this scenario.
Throw open the windows, pull out your vacuum cleaner, wipe down all of your surfaces, and have a raging dance party!! Bonus points for inviting friends over to help with this activity. The amplification of energy will supercharge your endeavors.
Now, in this specific situation, I recommend bopping around to love songs that make your heart soar. (I got things started for you.) The love spell is a false version of love that cannot hold up to the real thing. Crank up the music to a list of songs that hundreds or thousands or millions of people have poured their love energy into over the years, and let it chase out the horrible impersonation. This will shift the energetic framework around you so that the future spells have nowhere to attach. Pow! Bam! Zing!!
While removing attachments can be painful and miserable, I always like to begin by seeing if a lighthearted, joy-filled approach will work. It’s amazing what a deep clean and some tunes can do.
As you chase the darkness away, stand confidently in your energy and watch it beam out from you in every direction. Close your eyes and feel the pulse as you fill every nook and cranny leaving no room for those jerky love spells to find their way back to you. Remember the feeling of authentic love and how it makes your cells tingle. Enjoy the smile that will inevitably find its way to your face.
Congrats! You did it!! Repeat as necessary, though I have a feeling these attachments won’t return.
